I Feel Free To be Me Again

I honestly feel different today. Nothing for the most part has changed since yesterday but I do feel different. The only difference between yesterday to today is psychological. On 17 March I got my second dose of the Moderna Covid19 vaccine. The literature passed out said the full immunity would be in effect in two weeks. Today is two weeks.

I don’t feel safer than I did yesterday. Whatever level of immunity I have today I probably had virtually the same yesterday. The vaccine does not work like a light switch that at midnight last night I went from no immunity to full immunity. I also do not know scientifically what level of immunity I have. I do feel different. I do have faith and believe in the science of vaccinations. The Polio vaccine is one example.

Here are some of my thoughts that I can up with as to why I feel different today. I feel like a responsible member of the human race. This virus is only going to be under control when herd immunity takes effect. I have a dear friend who is alive because of a liver transplant. She will never be able to get the vaccine her transplant team told her. Surviving the virus does not give lifetime immunity. I have several friends who regularly give blood that survived the virus. When you give blood, at least through the United States Red Cross, they test it and let you know if you have antibodies in your blood. They also let you know if you have the virus in you. Each of them got to a point where the virus antibodies disappeared. I feel as though I have been a responsible member of the human race doing my part to conquer this threat to everyone.

I didn’t fear the virus. I gave my take on authority recently. I said that I respected authority. I might work to change it but I do respect it in principle. It is the same with the virus. I respect the power it has. It made enough people sick and killed enough to give it the respect it deserves. I do not have to fear an animal such as a lion in nature, but I can respect its ability to kill me if I walk up to it. I have religiously worn a mask out in public like the experts said to do because it helped others be safer. I will continue to do that because there is little research about someone who is vaccinated that comes in contact with the virus as to whether they can pass it on to unvaccinated people. This is what many asymptomatic people…
